January 12th of this year was the 50th anniversary of Sam Cooke’s Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963, an album that I hadn’t heard until January 12th of this year. And I have nothing to say about it really, but I can’t remember the last time I heard a record that I was so sure would bring joy to basically any of my friends. If you’ve ever taken a musical recommendation from me (you poor thing), this is going to be better than that.

If you don’t want to just buy it (or listen to it on Spotify) off of that: peep the transition from “It’s All Right” to “For Sentimental Reasons” in the medley above and, if you’re standing, hold on to a rail so as not to fall over.
